A Seabourn fare is fully inclusive. Your suite is just the start: every dining venue is included, including the speciality restaurants Sushi and Solis, alongside fine wines, premium spirits and champagne throughout the ship, gratuities, 24-hour in-suite dining, and complimentary Wi-Fi. On the expedition fleet, guided landings, Zodiac cruises and the core expedition programme are included, along with your Helly Hansen expedition parka. The main extras you’ll typically budget for separately are flights, optional shore excursions, spa treatments and Wi-Fi upgrades beyond the included allowance.

Yes, and they’re exceptional. Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit are purpose-built expedition ships with PC6 ice-class hulls, fleets of Zodiacs and kayaks, and an Expedition Team comprising scientists, naturalists, historians and photographers. They sail to Antarctica, the Arctic, the Kimberley and other remote regions, while retaining the same Seabourn service and all-suite accommodation found across the wider fleet.

Seabourn is designed primarily for adults and does not offer dedicated children’s clubs or organised kids’ programmes. That said, families with older teenagers do sail, particularly on expedition voyages where the wildlife encounters and Zodiac excursions tend to appeal to younger travellers. Some suites can accommodate three guests or interconnect for additional space. For families with younger children, cruise lines with dedicated family facilities are often a better fit.

The Seabourn dress code is generally relaxed. Daytime attire is resort casual, while most evenings are smart casual, with a jacket and open-neck shirt for men and dresses or elegant separates for women. There are usually one or two more formal evenings per voyage where some guests choose to dress up, but black tie is entirely optional rather than expected.

Both are ultra-luxury, all-inclusive cruise lines, but they have distinct personalities. Seabourn places a strong emphasis on small-ship intimacy, signature experiences such as Caviar in the Surf, and a particularly loyal community of returning guests through the Seabourn Club. Silversea operates a larger expedition fleet and is known for its S.A.L.T. culinary programme. It depends on what you’re looking for. Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation are the line’s larger ocean ships, each carrying around 600 guests and offering the widest choice of dining venues. Seabourn Quest is the most intimate ocean ship at 458 guests and enjoys a particularly loyal following among returning Seabourn Club members. Seabourn Pursuit and Seabourn Venture are the purpose-built expedition ships for polar and remote travel. In most cases, the right choice comes down to where you want to sail rather than the ship itself.

For the right traveller, absolutely. A Seabourn fare covers many of the elements that attract additional charges elsewhere, including premium beverages, gratuities, speciality dining and Wi-Fi. Once those inclusions are taken into account, the difference between Seabourn and lower-tier operators can be less significant than many first-time guests expect. The small ships and high crew-to-guest ratio also create a level of personal service that is increasingly rare at sea.

Yes. Seabourn is one of the more solo-friendly ultra-luxury cruise lines, with reduced single supplements available on selected sailings. The smaller ship size also makes it easier to meet fellow guests naturally throughout a voyage, while open-seating dining and the relaxed onboard atmosphere help conversations develop organically. Expedition voyages can be particularly sociable, with shared Zodiac excursions and daily briefings creating a strong sense of community.

Caviar in the Surf is one of Seabourn’s most celebrated signature events. On selected warm-weather sailings, the crew sets up on a beach and serves caviar and champagne from a surfboard while guests stand barefoot in the water. It’s exactly as memorable as it sounds and remains one of the experiences returning guests mention most often when reflecting on a Seabourn voyage.
