British Isles Cruises

Explore a little closer to home on one of our unforgettable British Isles cruises.

Choosing to book a cruise of the British Isles is a great way to immerse yourself in the history and culture of one of the world’s most diverse and fascinating regions. From seaside towns and vibrant cities to areas of rugged natural beauty and historical monuments, the British Isles is an excellent choice of cruise destination and equally suited to experienced cruisers and those looking to book their first cruise holiday.

On a British Isles cruise, you have the ease of setting sail from one of the many UK ports, making it the ideal choice of destination if you would prefer not to fly to an overseas embarkation port.

British Isles Cruise Itineraries

Departing from Southampton, Dover, London and Portsmouth, British Isles cruise itineraries take in an exciting range of cities, towns and harbours throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

Frequently visited ports of call when cruising from the UK include St Peter Port in Guernsey, where you can explore the charming Castle Cornet, and Dublin, home of the famous Jameson Distillery Bow St. Selected itineraries may also call at Edinburgh, with shore excursions offering trips to the Medieval Old Town and looming castle, while the Orkney Islands is a must for anyone with interest in history and folklore.

While most British Isles cruises are around 7 to 14 days, longer voyages are also available. These extended itineraries will often include crossings to mainland Europe to visit France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway.

The best time for British Isles cruises

The best time for British Isles cruises is during the spring and summer months. Late May to early September is particularly popular, especially with overseas guests who come to explore the region while the weather is at its most pleasant. Understandably, cruise ships and land-based attractions can be at their busiest during the peak summer months, so for a more laid-back experience, we recommend booking a voyage departing in May, June or late September.

While it is possible to find UK cruises outside of this period, they are often more regionally-focused, such as the itineraries offered by Hebridean Island Cruises, which take in Scotland’s Hebrides archipelago.

Cruise lines that offer British Isles cruises

Nearly all of the major cruise lines offer British Isles cruises of some description. Luxury cruise lines such as Regent Seven Seas, Oceania Cruises and Seabourn will often have one or two British Isles-focused itineraries in the summer months, though these can sell-out up to a year in advance. Other operators, such as Saga and Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, offer British Isles cruises more frequently, focusing on shorter duration sailings and short break-style holidays.
