Saga Sapphire

Saga Sapphire joined the Saga Cruises fleet in 2012 and has become a firm favourite with many of our clients, who return to enjoy cruising on her year after year.

Offering a capacity of 720 guests, Saga Sapphire can be categorised as a ‘small ship’, though this does not necessarily means there are a lack of onboard facilities. On the contrary, Saga Sapphire offers much for to enjoy while relaxing on a lazy sea day, including a fantastic Aqua Spa and a variety of elegant lounges and bars.

Saga Sapphire Accommodation

The accommodation on Saga Sapphire is comprised of four categories:

  • Inside Cabins
  • Outside Cabins
  • Superior Cabins
  • Suites

Saga Sapphire also has accommodation reserved for solo travellers in the Inside, Outside and Superior grades.

All of Saga Sapphire’s accommodation options are elegantly designed and spacious. The light, airy decor and crisp fabrics are well-considered and as such give the cabins a comfortable, homely feel.

Inside each cabin grade you will find everything you need for the duration of your cruise, including an en-suite bathroom, flat-screen television, dressing table/writing desk and ample storage space. You will also have a window or porthole, though several of the Suites boast their own private veranda.

Saga Sapphire Dining

Saga Sapphire’s main dining venue is Pole to Pole. A 250-seater restaurant, Pole to Pole serves up a mouthwatering array of dishes, taking regional influence from the ports visited on your cruise itinerary. Here, you can enjoy expert freshly prepared meals and a fantastic selection of hand-picked wines.

For a taste of the Orient, head to East to West, which is available to all diners on a reservation-only basis. The menus in East to West feature many wonderful Asian-inspired dishes. However, you will need to get your reservation secured quickly as there is only space for 64 guests and the restaurant is often fully booked each night.

Lastly, Saga Sapphire’s Verandah is the perfect spot for something a little more informal. Open during breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Verandah seats 100 guests and serves up some delicious buffet-style fare as well as fresh meats and fish.

Saga Sapphire Entertainment & Facilities

Entertainment on Saga Sapphire primarily takes place in the Britannia Lounge. During the day you can take part in quizzes and dance classes, while in the evening the lounge offers a programme that features musical recitals, cabaret acts and theatre performances.

Alternatively, Cooper’s Bar offers a lighthearted atmosphere in which to relax. This quirky venue has a great late-night atmosphere and is complete with fez lampshades in tribute to the comedian Tommy Cooper.

For a spot of quiet time during the day, The Drawing Room is a relaxed lounge area with plush seating and snacks available, while the Beach Club, which is located on the top deck, is the perfect location for enjoying the sunshine and ice-cream treats around the pool.

Facilities on Saga Sapphire include:

  • Aqua Spa
  • Two hot tubs
  • Promenade Deck
  • Library
