Life Onboard

Life onboard a Hurtigruten Expeditions ship is designed to be both relaxing and educational. As such, you’ll find each ship provides comfortable accommodation, spacious public spaces and a variety of unique features.

To enrich your experience, the onboard Science Centre is open throughout the day and serves to help you learn more about the region you are exploring. Equipped with photography stations, literature and activity stations, the Science Centre also offers a privileged insight into scientific research carried out onboard in partnership with Happywhale, the Sea Leopard Project and the Antarctic Site Inventory.

At mealtimes, head over to the onboard dining areas, where you will find a selection of exquisite menus crafted by highly skilled chefs to ensure your dining experience is second to none. From the modern main dining rooms to the à la carte restaurants, you can enjoy a mouthwatering selection of regionally-influenced dishes and international favourites.

Furthermore, after a long day exploring, you can unwind inside Hurtigruten’s fantastic onboard wellness centre. Exploring Ashore

The Hurtigruten experience is all about exploration, and there’s no better way to do this than by Zodiac. Depending on the voyage you choose, the Zodiacs are deployed twice daily (weather permitting) and will pilot you from your ship to carefully selected landing zones, hidden harbours and nearby places of interest.

Throughout your expedition, you will also have the opportunity to participate in a selection of excursions and activities. Led by Hurtigruten’s Expedition Team or accompanied by one of the operator’s local guides, the available breadth and range of options guarantees you will find an excursion to suit your requirements.

Hurtigruten Expedition 2024/2025

Hurtigruten Expeditions’ 2024 collection offers an array of extraordinary adventures in the world’s most remote regions. With an expanded Expedition Team and upgraded equipment for onshore activities, Hurtigruten ensures everything you need to awaken your inner explorer. In 2024, the operator will station three ships in Antarctica for the first time for the winter season, presenting a broader range of itineraries and more flexible durations than ever before. Highlights also include new voyages to West Africa and Cape Verde aboard MS Spitsbergen, along with year-round Galapagos Islands cruises aboard the MS Santa Cruise II.

Looking ahead to 2025, Hurtigruten Expeditions will introduce two new Norway-intensive itineraries: the Svalbard Express and the North Cape Express. These will complement the existing 12-day Classic Round Voyage, offering deeper immersion in destinations during either summer or winter. For those specifically interested in exploring Svalbard, especially to witness the majestic polar bear, the dedicated 8-day Svalbard Expedition offers the best way to experience the remote Archipelago. Additionally, there will be new itineraries to Greenland and two Northwest Passage crossings aboard MS Roald Amundsen.
