Kapitan Khlebnikov
A solid, square jawed ice breaker originally built to work in the wastes of Siberia; the Khlebnikov has been thoughtfully updated to provide a safe, stable base for people wishing to venture into the vast maritime wonderland of the Arctic.
Khlebnikov is a polar class icebreaker, with all of her accommodation situated in a massive tower block on the forward part of the ship. Here there are two open seating, forward facing dining rooms with views out to sea, as well as a lounge bar. The ship also boasts an auditorium for lectures, and carries twin helicopters in a hangar on the stern.
A maximum of 112 passengers are tended by some 70 crew on board this 122 metre long workhorse. Passengers also enjoy the use of a heated indoor pool, as well as an exercise room, and a gymnasium. There is a shop, and also a library.
The ship has good sea keeping qualities and quite large cabins that make comfortable retreats from the cold weather. The Kapitan Khlebnikov offers a large, comfortable platform from which to view the frozen wastelands of the Arctic, without abandoning any of the creature comforts that today’s travellers take for granted.
