Coming Soon: Reality Talent Contest at Sea

As both X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing come to an end, it is announced that there is a new type of reality programme on its way in the form of ‘Show Boaters’.

The talent contest will be used to break the stereotypes of cruise ship entertainment and find brand new talent to perform at sea. The show is commissioned by Sky 1 and will be created by Fresh Ones Productions, Jamie Oliver’s production company. The talent show will be made in early 2011 and will be shown later in the year over 20 episodes.

There are many details that are yet to be confirmed including the prize, cruise line and ship involved. As with any reality talent contest there will be mentors, choreographers and vocal coaches. Deciding the fate of the contestants will be the voting audience, consisting of guests onboard the cruise ship.

Not only will the contestants find out exactly what it is like to be a cruise ship entertainer they will also take part in other jobs around the ship including waiting in the restaurants. This will allow both contestants and viewers an insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes onboard a cruise liner.
