Ponant’s Yachts & Expeditions Class Ships
Ponant Cruises boast one of the most modern fleets at sea. Comprised of nine vessels, Ponant operates four luxury yachts (L’Austral, Le Boreal, Le Lyrial and Le Soleal), four ‘Explorer Class’ ships (Le Champlain, Le Lapérouse, Le Bougainville and Le Durmont-D’Urville) and the line’s first yacht, the three-masted Le Ponant.
In 2020, two more expedition-ready ships, Le Surville and Le Bellot, will join the fleet and be followed by a new ice-breaking vessel, Le Commandant Charcot, in 2021.
Ponant Cruises: Onboard Experience
In terms of the onboard experience, Ponant Cruises offer exceptional bilingual service, world-class dining and elegantly-appointed accommodation and public areas. The ‘French Touch’ is evident in each ship’s design and decor, and as such, the atmosphere is similar to that of a boutique hotel in Paris. The lounges and bars are ideal for meeting up with friends, while the sun deck offers panoramic views, ample seating and is perfect for a lazy day at sea. For those seeking further relaxation, head to the onboard spa where you can enjoy a range of treatments and massages (the spa is not available on Le Ponant).
Should you choose a cruise on an Explorer Class vessel, you will benefit from several expedition-style features. Key amongst these is the Blue Eye Lounge, an underwater multi-sensory environment which boasts comfortable seating and privileged views of life beneath the waves. Ponant’s expedition ships also carry a fleet of Zodiacs which are deployed frequently throughout each itinerary for sightseeing excursions and trips ashore.
In 2018 Ponant Cruises announced a partnership with National Geographic that will see photographers and experts from the organisation host workshops and land programmes on selected expedition itineraries.
