Celebrity Cruises has announced that Celebrity Apex will make its homeport in Southampton in 2024.
This will be the first time one of the line’s innovative Edge Series ships has sailed from the UK port. Celebrity Apex will replace Celebrity Silhouette, who has been operating no-fly cruises from Southampton since 2021.
“This truly is an exciting moment for us”, said President and CEO Lisa Lutoff Perlo. “Having one of our award-winning Edge Series ships sailing from Southampton will offer an experience like no other from the UK, connecting guests to the world around them through the innovative outward-facing design and visionary spaces these celebrated ships are known for.”
From May to November, Celebrity Apex will sail to the most beautiful destinations across Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, including the Norwegian Fjords, Reykjavik, Madeira, and the Canary Islands, with itineraries ranging from four to 13 nights.
“Travellers can delight in the beauty and culture of awe-inspiring Europe, whether on a multi-city break or an extended adventure at sea”, said Celebrity.
The 2024 season will also mark the line’s return to the Arctic Circle for the first time since 2014. A brand-new 12-night “Norwegian Fjords and Arctic Circle” itinerary will leave guests stunned by the natural beauty of the northernmost part of the world.
“Travellers will revel in the jaw-dropping scenery of the region’s capital, Tromsø, as well as Norway’s farthest city, Honningsvåg”, the line explained.
But the Arctic Circle isn’t the only new destination on the agenda. “Much further south, a new addition in 2024 includes the stunning island of Ibiza, boasting an eclectic landscape of traditional and modern culture, a vibrant culinary scene and mesmerising beaches in the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea.”
When asked to summarise the decision to base Celebrity Apex out of Southampton, Vice President and Managing Director Jo Rzymowska said, “There is a huge appetite from UK guests who share our curiosity for people, places and cultures in Europe and the wider world.
