Svalbard Cruises
Svalbard is a group of islands located in the in the Arctic, it is the most northern part of Norway and is situated between the Norwegian mainland and the North Pole. The largest island of the group is Spitsbergen which covers over half of the archipelago. The temperatures experienced here are slightly higher than other locations around the Arctic Circle due to the North Atlantic Current. However, temperatures still average at -12 to -16 degrees Celsius during January. Animals seen on the islands of Svalbard include Polar Bears, Arctic Foxes, and Reindeer along with many marine mammals such as Whales, Seals and Walrus. Visitors may also enjoy looking out for the many different species of bird found on the islands.
