St Johns Harbour Cruises
One of the oldest trading posts in the Caribbean, St. John's (pop.36,000) is a mix of restored buildings dating back to the 1600s andmore modern structures (some of which could use a little restoring).
If your ship docks in St. John's, you can start exploring the town as soonas you disembark'most sights are within walking distance. Stroll alongthe streets lining the wharf, where vendors hawk everything fromclothing and local crafts to artwork and jewelry. Stop to buy arefreshing glass of coconut water.
One must see: the PublicMarket. You may not recognize some of the tropical fruits andvegetables for sale, but don't hesitate to buy and sample anything thatappeals to you (you may want to ask if it needs any preparatio nfirst). The market is particularly lively on Friday and Saturdaymornings.
