Santo Tomas De Castilla Cruises

Since 2004, the port of Santo Tomas De Castilla has been accepting cruise ships allowing cruisers a more rural view of South America. One of the main tourist attractions in the area, Quirigua, is located close by to the port and offers visitors a chance to take in some of the finest sculptures from the Maya Classic period. Many of those on cruise holidays also like to visit the Mayan ruins at Tikal, which is situated a bit further away from the port than Quirigua.

The area surrounding the port itself can often be quite busy, popluated by many stalls selling local arts and crafts. A popular excurision for those on family cruises is a visit to Amitique Bay Resort, where visitors can use the wide range of facilities available.
