Port Said Cruise

Located in the North East of Egypt, Port Said is an important port both for tourism and for international trade. In busy periods it is possible to see queues of cruise lines waiting to enter the port on the nearby Suez Canal – a remarkable sight if you are lucky enough to witness it.

The imprint of colonial culture is still rooted in the foundations of the city, giving the Port Said and its surrounding area a unique feel, accentuated by the 19th century architecture and buildings. Perhaps most interesting is that New York's Statue of Liberty was originally intended for Port Said, but the local authorities decided that it was too expensive, which led to it being placed in New York.

For visitors, taking a trip to the National Museum which gives a fascinating insight into the regions history, featuring artifacts from both the pharaonic and prehistoric eras.
