Situated in Ofoten Fjord, Narvik is an ice-free cruise port.
Narvik was founded by a consortium of Anglo-Swedish as a key port for the shipment of iron ore from north Sweden as other ports become frozen in winter. Since 1892 the city has been developed by the Norwegian government.
