Miami Cruises

The Port of Miami is located in the Biscayne Bay area of Miami, Florida. It is one of the major cruise capitals of the world, retaining its status as the number one passenger ports for well over a decade. The port contributes over $17 billion to the South Florida economy. It is in the process of redevelopment to maintain it high status and to accommodate for the changing demands of cruise vessel operators, shippers and carriers. Miami is a vibrant city, with lots to see and experience. It is becoming increasing renowned for its Golf courses, classical music concerts and comedy shows, in particular the improvisational comedy troupe- Laughing Gas.

Business tycoon Henry Flagler extended his East Coast Railroad to Miami in 1896, and shortly after funded the construction of the Port of Miami. In 1915 city officials authorised plans for a public terminal and the port became a primary hub for shipping to South Florida. In 1976 Miami became the first port in history to log more than one million cruise passengers in a year. In 1996 decorative lighting was installed into the elevated five-lane bridge to provide a glowing nocturnal landmark for Miami’s skyline.
