Konigswinter Cruises

The famous tourist destination of Konigswinter is located at the slopes of the Rhine riverbanks in the Siebengebirge Mountain, a climatically and geographically prime location. During your one-hour guided city walk, you will become acquainted with the small town that was historically documented for the first time in 1342. While strolling through the lanes of the town, you will pass the market square with the wine fountain and the Lord-Byron Square, where you can find a commemorative stone in honor of the lord who gained world recognition for this area with one of his famous poems in the wake of the Romantic Rhine movement. The oldest rack railway of Germany (1883) ensures a comfortable ride up to the Drachenfels (dragon rock). Halfway up the hill you will see the Neo-Gothic style Drachenfels Castle, a majestic, castle-like manor house. The Drachenfels Rock awaits you at the end of the railway. In 1140, the archbishop of Cologne, Arnold I., started the building process for the Trutzburg castle on top of the rock. Today, you can still see a ruin of the medieval building. The Drachenfels Rock is the most prominent point for Konigswinter and also the landmark of the city. The unique to view onto the Rhine valley, the Siebengebirge Mountains and the Eifel area will inspire you.
