HORTA
Our first landfall after leaving Bermuda is the Blue Island of Faial in the mid-Atlantic group of islands known as the Azores. Here, where spring seems eternal, a blue mist seems to hover over the ground; this effect is caused by the multitude of hydrangeas that blanket the island. Red windmills, green pastures, pink lilies and fragrant lavender also surround the capital of HORTA, where we tender ashore to the colourful marina.
