Herradura Cruises
Not long ago, Playa Herradura, 4 miles (7km) north of Jaca, was little more than a quiet fishing village. Now that it is home to one of Costa Rica's largest and most luxurious resorts, it still has a secluded beach with a palm-lined, black sand shore. During low tide, you can wade out to nearby Isla Herradura, an uninhabited patch of land just a few hundred yards offshore.
