Fort De France

Fort De France is the capital of Martinique and resides on the island’s western coastline. It’s a city that combines French and Creole influence to stunning effect, and cruise visitors to the Fort De France are sure to be delighted with its scenic location, neatly nestled between green hills and deep-blue Caribbean waters.

If visiting Martinique as part of a Caribbean cruise holiday, then it is recommended that you take the opportunity to visit the Paul Gauguin Memorial, a wonderful tribute to the famous French artist, and the Plantation de Leyritz, a lush tropical parkland that is home to a 17th-century agricultural estate offering banana groves, antiques and ornate stone cottages.

Fort De France is also the ideal spot for a bit of retail therapy, and its easy to lose track of time whilst roaming in and out of the various boutique clothing stores and craft markets
