Ensenada Cruises
Baja's third city and leading seaport, Ensenada is a delightful place on the northern shore of the Bahia de Todos Santos. Its blue waters sport many dolphins and underline the austere character of a landscape reduced to water, sky and scorched brown earth. Sport and commercial fishing, canning, wineries, olive groves and agriculture are the chief activities. Just a short distance away is the Valle de Guadalupe; its vast vineyards are the source of the very best Mexican wines.
The twin white towers of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe church are a prominent landmark, as is the Plaza Civica, a landscaped court containing large busts of Juarez, Hidalgo and Carranza. There is a splendid view over the city and bay from the road circling the Chapultepec Hills on the western edge of the business district.
Between December and March, thousands of whales arrive here making their yearly migration toward the warmer tides. Whale watching is a favorite pastime here, so keep your cameras handy.
