Elsehul Bay, South Georgia Island
Elsehul Bay is located on South Georgia Island. Elsehul is home to a vast colony of fur seals. These aggressive animals favour rocky coastlines with sheltered beaches. Stromness lies near Elsehul. Shackleton made the first crossing of the island's interior, hiking over glacial crevasses, up ice cliffs and down frozen waterfalls to reach the whaling station there.
