Chioggia Cruises
Chioggia is a little Venetian port with stunning architecture nestling at the southern end of Laguna di Venezia. In contrast to Venice it is uncrowded and offers traditional markets and shops. Chioggia occupies several islands and is joined by a bridge to the mainland at the seaside resort of Sottomarina. Roman in origin, destroyed by invading barbarians, rebuilt and the centre of many disputes between Genoa and Venice it has many notable landmarks including the 11th-century cathedral, the Church of San Martino (1392), and the Church of San Domenico (14th century, renovated 18th century), all with valuable paintings.
