Breisach Cruises
On July 9, 1950, under the auspices of the Europa-Union Deutschland "European Union of Germany", Breisach was the first city in Europe to hold a trial vote on the formation of a European federal state. Conscious of the border town's torturous history, almost 96% of the voters voted in favor of this political goal. The Light of Europe, lit in 1951, and the European flag that has been flying from the Eckartsberg since 1964 have exhorted us ever since to pursue that goal and live out the principles of international cooperation in our daily lives.
