Bequia Cruises
Bequia is the second largest of the 32 strong island chain of the Grenadines, one of only a few Caribbean destinations which managed to escape colonization until the 18th century. The French and British struggled for control of the island, killing the entire Carib population. Under the 1783 Treaty of Versailles, Britain was awarded control of the islands, which since 1979, have been collectively considered an Independent Member of the British Commonwealth. The diminutive 'capital' is Port Elizabeth, grouped around the almost landlocked Admiralty Bay, where elegant yachts and schooners ride at anchor. Bequia Island is now best known for its lush landscapes, pristine beaches and superb diving opportunities.
