Basseterre
St Kitts' main port, Basseterre set amongst an idyllic backdrop of rolling hills and mountains, situated on the south west coast of St Kitts. The town itself is quite small but visitors to the islands will find plenty to do in the centre, whether its taking a look around the more tourist-orientated ‘Circle' or perusing the older buildings and cathedral in Independence Square.
St Kitts and its neighbouring sister isle of Nevis is perhaps more traditional than other Caribbean islands, eschewing redevelopment in favour of retaining it's natural rural charm. Visitors are advised to visit the plantation houses and forts which offer a fascinating insight into the island's past.
