Windstar Cruises NEW Private Event Host 'Royal Chef' Darren McGrady

Windstar Cruises is rolling out a new Private Event Programme in 2015, which will allow guests the opportunity to connect more with a specific destination during their cruise. The line’s first Private Event Host was Olympic swimmer Mark Spritz, he sailed the Yachtsman’s Caribbean Voyage in January as host of the Prickly Pear Beach Private Event, but Windstar are back with the announcement of Private Event Host number two, 'Royal Chef' Darren McGrady.

Darren McGrady really is the Chef to the Royals, he was personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II; Diana, Princess of Wales; and Princes William and Harry for 15 years.

He will join Star Legend, one of Windstar’s newest fleet additions, on her June 19 Idyllic British Isles sailing as the Private Event Host, attending the Windstar Cruises Private Event at Picton Castle, a 13th century castle in Pembrokeshire reserved for Windstar guests to explore while enjoying appetizers, sparkling wine, and music from a traditional Welsh choir.

Back onboard Star Legend, Darren will prepare a three course “royal feast” for guests, taking time before each course to explain his selections and techniques while telling stories from his time cooking at Buckingham Palace.

During the 7-night voyage, Chef Darren will also host an afternoon tea onboard, answering guests’ questions and sharing his favourite recipes and cookbook.

Other Private Events in 2015 will include a wine tasting and tour in Italy with traditional Sicilian lunch; tapas and folk dance lessons; and an equestrian ballet and sherry tasting, among others.
