Silversea Bans Smoking In Cabins

Silversea Cruises has followed in the footsteps of a number of cruise lines in taking the decision to ban guests from smoking in their cabins.

The recent announcement means that Silversea has joined the likes of Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and NCL who all took steps last summer to rule out smoking in both cabins and public spaces.

Silversea’s new policy, which will be enforced from the beginning of 2013, means that smoking will now be banned in every cabin and public space aside from a selection of specially-designated outside areas and the Connoisseur’s Corner. Silversea had previously prohibited their guests from smoking on the ships balconies, though this change in policy means that the private spaces on Silversea’s vessels are now completely no-smoking.

The 6-star cruise line communicated this news to travel agents in a letter outlining Silversea’s intention to “...promote a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment from our guests, staff and crew”.

Silversea Cruises is one of the world’s leading luxury cruise lines and recently completed a deal that will see them add the Galapagos Explorer II vessel to their fleet in summer 2013.
