Sharon Stone Announced As Godmother To AmaVida
Hollywood actress Sharon Stone will serve as godmother to AmaWaterway’s latest river cruise vessel, AmaVida.
AmaVida’s christening will take place in on 22nd March 2013 in Portugal and will mark the beginning of the ship’s service for river cruise specialists, AmaWaterways.
Stone, who rose to fame in the early 1990s as the star of erotic thriller Basic Instinct, is one of the most out-spoken celebrities in Hollywood and is frequently involved with a number of charities. She has received an award for her work on behalf of the American Foundation for AIDS research and donated $10,000 at the World Economic Forum to help raise awareness for malaria-related illnesses.
Speaking of the decision to appoint Stone as godmother to AmaVida, AmaWaterways’ co-owner Kristin Karst said “We are thrilled to have such as accomplished and talented person serve as godmother; her beauty is clear to any generation”.
The 106-passenger AmaVida will be based in Spain and Portugal and offer seven-night itineraries along the Douro, with selected voyages including overnight hotel stays in Lisbon. Offering guests a choice of elegantly spacious suites and some fantastic facilities including a heated swimming pool, beauty salon and fitness suite, AmaVida is set to be one of the finest river cruise vessels afloat.
The news follows Uniworld’s recent announcement that Andie MacDowell -star of films such as Groundhog Day and Four Weddings and a Funeral - will serve as the godmother to their new vessel, the Queen Isabella which will also be offering itineraries in Spain and Portugal.
