Hapag-Lloyd's MS Europa 2 Set For First Season
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ recently took delivery of their newest vessel, MS Europa 2; a five-star cruise ship which will offer the largest space-per-passenger ration in the world.
The 516-guest capacity ship is the fifth addition to the Hapag-Lloyd fleet and joins the MS Europa and MS Columbus 2 in offering luxury voyages for the German cruise line.
Built in the STX Europe shipyard in Nazaire, France, MS Europa 2 is set to commence her service for Hapag-Lloyd on 11th May 2013 where she will sail Europe’s western coastlines between Hamburg and Lisbon before beginning her maiden season in the Mediterranean. In November she will reposition in Asia and will operate between Singapore and Hong Kong throughout the winter season.

MS Europa 2 will boast the largest guest-to-space ratio of any cruise ship in the world and her onboard facilities are comprised of 8 restaurants, 6 bars, and a fully equipped health and fitness suite which includes spa facilities. Where the accommodation options are concerned, each of MS Europa 2’s 251 suites’ offer a private veranda offering up to 75 metres of personal space.
Upon receiving the MS Europa 2 on behalf of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, the line’s managing director Dr. Wolfgang Flagal said: “Today is a special day for us. By the addition to the fleet of Europa 2, we acquiring the latest generation of cruise ship, which embodies an entirely new type of luxury cruise at sea. I am certain we will raise the bar with the Europa 2 in the luxury cruise sector.”
MS Europa 2 will undergo her official christening ceremony on 10th May 2013 in Hamburg and will be the centerpiece of the port’s anniversary celebrations.
