New Royal Princess ship for Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises has announced that their small ship Royal Princess will be leaving the fleet in April 2011 to join its sister line P&O Cruises, sailing under the new name “Adonia.”

The name Royal Princess will stay in the hands of Princess Cruises and will become the name of the first of two new 3,600 passenger ships being launched in 2013. Her sister ship, yet to be named, will be launched a year later in spring 2014.

The new Royal Princess currently being built will feature a glass bottomed walk way on the top deck that extends more than 28 feet beyond one side of the ship. From here passengers can look out to stunning sea views as well as viewing the sea 128 feet below them. On the same deck the ship features three pools separated by an island that transforms into a dance floor and light show in the evening. While at the other end of the deck, events and films will be shown.
