Taiwan is located on an island just south-east of mainland China. The country is quite mountainous on the eastern side leading down to flatter plains on the western part where most of the towns and cities are situated.
As the country lies so close to China, Taiwan incorporates many of their traditions in their own culture, this is conveyed through both music and cuisine. Along with the modern skyscrapers of the cities, Taiwan also boasts many older buildings with traditional architecture similar to that of China.
