Silversea Silver Ray: Suites, deck plans and who she's for
Silversea Silver Ray joined the fleet in summer 2024 as the second Nova-class ship, following her sister Silver Nova. She carries just 728 guests across 363 all-balcony suites, and honestly, few ships pack in this much space per passenger. This Silver Ray guide covers how the deck plan works, what each suite category offers, and who this ship really suits.
For a first-hand account, read our team's own Silver Ray ship review from May 2025 to discover what life is really like on board.

What makes Silver Ray different?
Most ships stack suites forward and public rooms aft. Silver Ray flips that layout on its head. Suites spread horizontally across Decks 6 to 9, while restaurants, bars and lounges sit lower down with higher ceilings and a more open feel. The result genuinely changes how the ship flows, and it’s one of the more distinctive design choices in luxury cruising right now.
Glass plays a huge part too. Silver Ray’s asymmetrical architecture wraps the ship in expansive windows, so public spaces and suites alike deliver sweeping sea views from almost every angle.
Our guide to Silversea vs other luxury cruise lines breaks down the key differences.

The Silver Ray deck plan
Decks 6 through 9 hold nothing but suites, arranged forward, midship and aft rather than in one uniform block. That spread gives guests distinct suite experiences depending on position, something you don’t often get on a ship this size. Below those decks, you’ll find the restaurants, lounges, theatre and spa, all benefiting from the extra headroom the horizontal layout allows.
At 54,700 gross tons for 728 guests, Silver Ray offers one of the best space-to-guest ratios anywhere at sea. It genuinely shows once you’re onboard.

Suite categories on Silver Ray
Silver Ray introduces seven suite categories, starting with the Classic Veranda Suite. At around 355 sq ft, including a 54 sq ft private veranda, it’s already generous for an entry-level cabin, and it comes with premium Wi-Fi, an espresso machine, and a personalised in-suite bar.
Moving up, the Silver Suite and Premium Medallion categories add more refined touches, while the ship’s standout addition is the Otium Suite, a completely new category unique to Nova-class ships. Just two exist onboard, stacked in the aft starboard corner, and they represent the very top of what Silver Ray offers.
One thing worth noting: complimentary laundry, pressing and wet-cleaning services extend to almost every suite category, with only the Veranda Suite excluded. That’s a small but genuinely useful perk most competitors don’t match. If you’re weighing up which category suits you best, our guide to choosing the right Silversea suite category covers the fleet-wide breakdown.

Dining, drinks and onboard life
Silver Ray carries eight restaurants and ten bars and lounges, including several venues from Silversea’s S.A.L.T. culinary programme. As with every Silversea ship, drinks, gratuities and Wi-Fi are all included in the fare, so there’s little to think about once you’re onboard. For a full venue-by-venue breakdown, see our Silversea restaurants and dining guide. If you’re new to the line altogether, our guide to life on a Silversea cruise covers what a typical day onboard looks like.
The pool deck ranks among the largest in the fleet too, giving guests genuine breathing room even on the busiest sea days.

Who Silver Ray suits best
Silver Ray suits travellers who want serious suite space without sacrificing an all-inclusive fare. Couples celebrating a milestone will find the Otium and top-tier suites hard to beat, while first-time luxury cruisers will appreciate that even the entry-level Classic Veranda Suite feels truly spacious. If you value destination views over onboard entertainment, the sheer amount of glass throughout the ship makes Silver Ray a strong match.
Before you book, it’s worth checking our Silversea packing and dress code guide and our Silversea safety and medical guide, both useful whichever suite category you choose.
