Windstar Cruises’ New Star Explorer Debuts Winter Mediterranean Sailings
Windstar Cruises has announced that its newest yacht, Star Explorer, will debut in the Mediterranean. The ship will offer winter cruises to Europe starting later in 2026.
Launch and Inaugural Season
Star Explorer is scheduled to launch on the 28th December, 2026. The first season features overnight stays in Florence (Livorno), Barcelona, and Nice. Guests can also visit ports such as Genoa, Catania, and Malaga.
Seasonal highlights include Carnevale in Venice and Epiphany in Greece. These cruises offer guests the opportunity to experience local celebrations with fewer crowds. This will be Windstar’s fourth year of winter sailings in the Mediterranean.

Southern Spain Winter Escapes (9-nights)
Explore Gaudí’s architecture in Barcelona and Málaga. Guests can also join the Madrid and Southern Spain Cruise Tour to extend the trip inland.
Europe’s Winter Riviera (7-nights)
Discover the Riviera in the off-season with overnight stays in Florence and Barcelona. Highlights include Tuscany, Genoa, and Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter.
Winter Italy & the Dalmatian Coast (8-nights)
See Michelangelo’s frescoes, Venice’s canals, and the ruins of Pompeii. Guests can make pizza in Sicily and watch winter lights shine in Dubrovnik.
Star Collector Voyages (13+ Nights)
These longer trips combine multiple cruises to give you more time to explore Europe. Optional Madrid Cruise Tours are also available.
Onboard Experience
Star Explorer offers 112 suites, including two Horizon Owner’s Suites with wraparound balconies. These spacious rooms give guests panoramic views of the sea.

This offer is valued at over $1,300 per stateroom on a seven-day cruise. Guests will also receive up to $200 in onboard credit per stateroom.
Windstar has also introduced its Pay Now, Save More promotion. Travellers who pay in full at the time of booking will receive an extra 5% discount on cruise fares, including fares that are usually not discounted.
