Star Seeker Review January 2026

January 2026

Star Seeker is the latest and seventh vessel to join the Windstar fleet, crystallising the small luxury cruise concept which has been the company´s signature since 1984.

A New Chapter in Windstar’s Story

Windstar’s forty year history opened with the emblematic four-masted Wind Star sailing yacht, still in service and always an arresting sight. The new Star Seeker is a conceptually different vessel, set on eight decks to accommodate just two hundred and twenty four guests, with an elaborate two-storey spa facility and a reinforced hull for exploration voyages. Custom built by the West Sea Shipyard in Portugal, the new Windstar has all the design signatures of an intimate luxury cruise vessel.

A quick glimpse of Star Seeker, undertaken in a pre-inaugural winter sailing from Palma Mallorca to Malaga, reveals a compact and elegant ship with one hundred and twelve suites, most with balcony or floor-to-ceiling windows, and all with impeccably appointed interiors and bathrooms.

Designed for Intimate Exploration

A deck six Premier Veranda Suite provides a comfortable 225 square foot retreat with a small sofa and well-considered furnishings. From a suite on deck six, it’s just one deck up to The Yacht Club and two decks down to Amphora and the speciality restaurants. Elevators are rarely necessary, reinforcing the ease and intimacy of life on board.

The ship’s layout, combined with its modest scale, supports a relaxed onboard flow while still offering all the facilities expected of a modern luxury vessel, including a substantial spa and wellness offering designed for extended journeys. Explore current Windstar deals.

Suites, Flow and Life On Board

From private suites to shared social spaces, Star Seeker feels deliberately designed for comfort rather than spectacle. The proximity of key venues encourages guests to move easily between dining, relaxation and observation areas, creating a seamless onboard rhythm that mirrors Windstar’s established yachting ethos.

Culinary Craft at Sea

Culinary affairs are the heart of any cruise, and Windstar is well practised in the art. Under the guidance of the James Beard Foundation, menus featuring guest chefs are rotated through the seasons and reflect and respect the ship’s location.

Amphora, the company’s signature restaurant, is structured around a central buffet and dispense area, alongside an open-air rear deck seating venue for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Menus change daily but feature classic dishes throughout the itinerary. A comprehensive wine list includes a California Ancient Peaks Merlot, a Domaine Les Fumées Blanches Sauvignon Blanc, and even a 2015 Dom Pérignon.

Basil and Bamboo, the newest addition to the culinary repertoire, is a smaller venue serving European-Asian fusion dishes. If you’ve been hankering after miso black cod with pea purée or ginger-cinnamon hibiscus ice cream with sake caviar, you’ll find it here.

For simpler fare, The Star Grill on deck seven is an open-air venue for lunch and dinner, offering a wide range of barbecue favourites. And if you can’t tear yourself away from the comfort of your suite, entirely understandable, 24-hour room service is on hand with a varied and well-curated menu.
