Oceania Sonata: A New Era of Refined

January 2026

With the unveiling of Oceania Sonata, Oceania Cruises is setting a confident new course for the future of luxury cruising.

Debuting in August 2027, Oceania Sonata will be the first ship in the all-new Sonata Class. She arrives at a pivotal moment for the brand, following Oceania Cruises’ move to an adults-only experience from January 2026. Together, these developments signal a refined evolution focused on tranquillity, space and thoughtful luxury.

Adults-only cruising, elevated

Oceania Cruises’ decision to welcome guests aged 18 and over for all new reservations reflects what loyal guests have long valued most. A calm onboard atmosphere, sophisticated service and an unhurried pace.

Aboard Oceania Sonata, this adults-only environment ensures every space feels intentionally serene. Days unfold at leisure, evenings are elegant and sociable, and the overall ambience encourages meaningful connection, whether with fellow travellers, destinations or simply the sea.

A milestone moment in ship design

Construction of Oceania Sonata officially began with a ceremonial steel cutting at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. This moment marked the next chapter in Oceania Cruises’ long-standing partnership with the renowned Italian shipbuilder, responsible for Oceania Marina, Oceania Riviera, Oceania Vista and the upcoming Oceania Allura.

As the ninth ship in the fleet, Oceania Sonata has been designed as a true masterpiece, blending Italian craftsmanship with Oceania’s signature small-ship luxury. She will be followed by a sister ship, Oceania Arietta, further expanding the Sonata Class.

Thoughtfully designed, beautifully spacious

Measuring 86,000 gross tons and carrying just 1,390 guests, Oceania Sonata will be the most spacious and amenity-rich ship Oceania Cruises has ever built. The design focuses on openness and light, balancing grand social spaces with calm, intimate areas created for relaxation.

The result is an onboard atmosphere that feels residential rather than resort-like. Elegant yet relaxed, refined yet welcoming, this is a natural evolution of Oceania’s understated aesthetic.

Suite living, reimagined

Around one third of all accommodation aboard Oceania Sonata will be suites, offering a greater variety of layouts and generous living space.

At the pinnacle are the four Owner’s Suites, each spanning more than 2,500 square feet. These exceptional suites feature two bedrooms, expansive wraparound verandas and sweeping 180-degree ocean views. A first for Oceania Cruises, they are designed for travellers seeking the very best at sea.

The Vista Suites, Oceania Suites and the all-new Horizon Suites continue this focus on space and comfort, with flowing layouts, oversized verandas and a strong residential feel. Horizon Suites are a completely new category, thoughtfully positioned between Penthouse and larger suites, ideal for guests looking to elevate their experience.

Penthouse and Penthouse Deluxe Suites complete the collection, offering elegant retreats with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and private verandas. Every suite includes dedicated butler service, next-generation Tranquillity Beds and Aquamar luxury bath amenities. Every stateroom and suite aboard Oceania Sonata also features a private veranda, ensuring uninterrupted sea views throughout the ship.

A new expression of The Finest Cuisine at Sea

Cuisine remains at the heart of the Oceania Cruises experience, and Oceania Sonata introduces two exciting new dining concepts.

La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France is a world-first fine dining venue at sea, created in partnership with the prestigious Maîtres Cuisiniers de France. Seating just 18 guests per evening, this reservations-only restaurant will offer rotating menus by Oceania’s Executive Culinary Directors and guest Master Chefs, alongside expertly paired wines and a signature Dom Pérignon tasting experience.

Also debuting is Nikkei Kitchen, an always-included speciality restaurant celebrating the fusion of Peruvian flavours and Japanese culinary traditions. Developed alongside acclaimed Chef Gustavo Sugay, it brings vibrant, contemporary flavours to a bright and modern setting.

These new venues complement Oceania’s much-loved dining collection, including the Grand Dining Room, Jacques, Red Ginger, Polo Grill and Toscana.

Looking ahead to 2027

Oceania Sonata represents more than a new ship. She reflects a brand evolving with intention, listening closely to its guests and refining what it already does so well.

With her spacious design, beautifully reimagined suites, innovative dining and adults-only ambience, Oceania Sonata is set to become one of the most anticipated luxury cruise ships of 2027.

For travellers who value serenity, sophistication and the freedom to explore at their own pace, this is a new era worth waiting for.
