- Seven Seas Voyager Review: Does it live up to the hype?

A smooth start onboard
Boarding turned out to be the smoothest part of my whole trip. My flight landed around 10:30, and the cruise terminal sat about 30 minutes from the airport. I picked a 1pm embarkation slot, just in case my flight ran late or my transfer fell behind schedule. In the end, I arrived just before 12.
Regent staggers embarkation times so that guests don’t all board at once. That keeps queues away. Even so, the team welcomed me warmly and got me onboard early. From the terminal to the ship, everything felt quick and easy. Then came the best bit. The crew greeted me with a glass of champagne in hand, which was such a lovely touch.

A freshly refurbished ship
Voyager is a beautiful ship, and she has had plenty of care in recent years. In April and May 2025, she spent 25 days in dry dock in Marseille, France. During that time, the team redesigned the suites, upgraded the marble bathrooms and refreshed the public areas. They also introduced the new Epicurean Enrichment Studio, which I’ll come to shortly.
A major update came earlier, in late 2016. Regent invested $125 million (around £95 million) in a fleet-wide renovation programme. It redesigned the top suites, including the Seven Seas, Voyager, Grand and Signature Suites, from top to bottom. The Penthouse, Concierge and Deluxe Suites also gained new furniture and bathroom upgrades.
The dining venues also got a makeover. Chartreuse, a brand-new luxury French restaurant, replaced the former Signatures. It echoes the popular debut venue on Seven Seas Explorer. Compass Rose, the main dining room on Deck 4, gained dramatic new decor, grand crystal chandeliers and premium leather chairs. La Veranda, the buffet on Deck 11, now has a more open layout and a cook-to-order grill station. Meanwhile, the Pool Grill turned into an evening pizzeria serving handcrafted pizzas.
The public spaces changed too. Coffee Connection moved to a more central spot on Deck 5, mid-ship. The Atrium, Reception and Library now boast custom lighting, marble finishes and modern furnishings. The Voyager Lounge also received a full style refresh to match the rest of the ship.
I’ll be honest, I hadn’t sailed with Regent before. Voyager isn’t a brand-new ship, and in a few places you can tell. Some corners look a little dated, which is only natural for a ship of her age. Still, she’s beautifully kept and spotless, and overall she’s great to sail on.

My Concierge Suite
I stayed in a Concierge Suite on Deck 10, and it was extremely spacious. I travelled solo, so I had more than enough room. As soon as I stepped inside, I emptied my entire suitcase. I wanted to see how much space was left once I had put everything away. Unsurprisingly, the suite still felt huge. It was as if I had never unpacked!
The bathroom was big, with lots of drawers and cupboards for make-up and daily essentials. Everything had a home, so nothing looked messy. The rainfall shower was generous too, and it came with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.
The balcony felt a little crowded, but that’s because the chairs were quite big. Even so, I spent plenty of time out there watching the waves roll by.
The minibar held soft drinks and beers. I expected a few spirits, but I think you need to request those. I didn’t bother, because the bar could make my favourite drink within minutes.

Coffee Connection and other favourite spots
Coffee Connection quickly became my happy place. It felt lively enough to have people around yet calm enough for a relaxing day with a book. In my case, I used it to work. Every visit came with a delicious, iced coffee, mmhmmm!
The Observation Lounge was another favourite. By day, it’s a much quieter spot where you can read, work or simply escape. In the evening, it turns into a lively social space with a bar, so guests gather there before dinner.
Space never felt like a problem either. Even when the ship was full, nowhere felt packed, which was lovely.
Dining across the ship
I ate in Prime 7, Chartreuse, Compass Rose and La Veranda. I had planned a night in Sette Mari, the evening venue at La Veranda, but a BBQ on the pool deck took over that night. More on that in a moment.
Compass Rose served as our main dining room, and I went there a lot for breakfast. The steak and eggs were fab! Chartreuse, the French-inspired restaurant, felt elegant and sophisticated.

Prime 7 came next on my list of favourites. I ordered the surf and turf with lots of different sides, and honestly, it was fantastic. Then I tried the 14-layer chocolate cake for dessert, and wow. I ate so much that I nearly needed a siesta back in my suite. But I carried on!
The lunch buffet at La Veranda never disappointed. One day, I tried a Spicy Korean burger, and it had a kick I wasn’t ready for. Luckily, I love spicy food, so that made it even better.
The service was good overall. Sometimes I waited a while for drinks or extras. However, with great company around, I barely noticed.

The boujie BBQ on the pool deck
My favourite dinner of the whole trip was a complete surprise. One evening, the ship held a BBQ on the pool deck. I had no idea it was coming! It was so nice to eat somewhere you didn’t have to dress up. You could roam around, chat to whoever you liked and enjoy the open air on the top deck.
The food was incredible too. There were salad stations, and you could watch the crew make your pasta dishes. Then came the proper BBQ food, including ribs, chicken and lobster. I’d call it a boujie BBQ, and I would go back in a heartbeat.
Afterwards, the band played, and everyone got up on their feet. We danced our hearts out for hours. It was brilliant, and we made lots of laughs and memories that night.
Shore excursions: Barcelona and the French Riviera
I almost forgot to mention the excursions, which were a lovely part of the trip. On the second day, we joined the Highlights of Barcelona tour. It was a coach trip around the city, and it covered a lot. We saw the atmospheric Gothic Quarter and the Chinese Lane. Next came the grand Arc de Triomf and the towering Christopher Columbus monument. We also stopped to admire one of Antoni Gaudí’s famous houses, which some people call the “ugly house” and others the “dragon house”. Finally, we passed the old Olympic stadium. That wasn’t everything we saw, but those were some of my favourites.

Now for the weather. It rained the whole time, and I mean torrential rain! At first, we did our best to stay dry. Eventually, we gave up and decided we might as well enjoy it. We were all soaked, but we were laughing about it by the end. It turned into one of those days we still talk about.
Later in the trip, I took a tour from Toulon. At 7.5 hours, it sounded like a lot. In reality, it was the right amount of time, with a good mix of sightseeing and free time. First, we visited Port Grimaud, which was beautiful. It felt like a little hidden gem.
Then we headed to Saint-Tropez, where we roamed by ourselves. Our tour guide said we had to try La Tarte Tropézienne, so of course we did. It was delicious! A group of us explored together, and we popped into the Dior Café as well. I’d call it a must.

Entertainment and enrichment
Entertainment started on our first night with a flamenco show, which was fantastic. After that, there was plenty more to enjoy. One thing you don’t see on many ships is the Epicurean Enrichment Studio. Here, you step into the world of culinary immersion. Lectures and interactive storytelling bring cuisines from around the world to life. Expert chef instructors lead each session, linking you to the ingredients, techniques and cultures of the places you visit.
The block party
Now for the part I loved most. Regent hosts something called a block party, and I had never seen it on another cruise line. It takes place a couple of days into the cruise, rather than at sailaway.
At 6pm, the ship’s bell or gong rings. Guests then step out of their suites with an empty wine glass in hand and gather in the corridor. Meanwhile, suite attendants, stewards and butlers wander the halls. They pour wine and champagne and pass round canapés and cheese. The captain, the manager and the cruise director also walk the corridors, meeting as many guests as they can.
It was one of my favourite experiences onboard by far. Nothing like it had ever happened on my other cruises, and it was so nice to chat with other guests in a casual, relaxed way. Core memories, for sure!

The crew
The crew were lovely throughout, whether in the restaurants or just passing around the ship. I popped into the shop to have a look around and ended up making a friend – the shop manager. I’ve completely forgotten her name, but she was so friendly. We had a long, lovely chat.
My suite attendant, Camille, was the loveliest of all. I locked myself out of my suite more than once, and she always arrived with a smile to rescue me. It even happened during the block party! The captain and his team reached our deck faster than I expected, so I dashed out without thinking. Thank goodness for Camille!

Who this ship suits
The vibe changed depending on the day. On BBQ night, it felt relaxed, lively and informal. In contrast, Chartreuse felt sophisticated. Prime 7 sat in between, a little more relaxed but still formal.
I’d say Voyager suits couples best. I can also see groups of friends loving it. However, it’s not as strong for multi-generational trips, because there isn’t much for children onboard. I also didn’t see many solo travellers. Most guests seemed to be couples.
If you’re weighing up luxury lines, our Silversea vs Regent Seven Seas comparison shows how the two compare.

Disembarkation and final thoughts
Disembarking was seamless, just like boarding. It felt easy and straightforward from start to finish.
I can’t speak for the rest of the Regent fleet, but I would happily recommend Seven Seas Voyager to couples. The standout moments for me were the BBQ on the top deck, which felt unforgettable and surreal, and the block party, which gave me core memories. Next time, I’m staying on longer!
