How Explora Journeys differs in destination experiences and itineraries
One of the things that sets Explora Journeys apart is how deliberately it approaches destinations. Longer port stays, overnight calls, and carefully chosen itineraries that give guests time to actually experience the places the ship visits. The Explora philosophy is slower, more immersive, and designed to complement rather than compete with the onboard experience.
Where are Explora Journeys sailing in 2026 and 2027?
Mediterranean
The Mediterranean is Explora Journeys’ home territory. Summer 2026 sailings cover Greece, Italy, Spain, Croatia, and the French Riviera. The programme includes the Monaco Grand Prix sailing and a strong run of Greek island itineraries. Overnight stays in ports like Mykonos and Rome allow guests to experience these cities after the day-trip crowds have left.
Caribbean
Caribbean sailings run from late autumn through spring, covering Eastern and Western Caribbean alongside lesser-visited island groups. The all-inclusive model removes any decision-making around spending ashore, which suits the Caribbean particularly well.
Northern Europe and the British Isles
The 2026 and 2027 programme includes sailings around the British Isles and Northern Europe, covering Norway, Iceland, and Scotland. These itineraries attract guests looking for dramatic scenery and cultural depth. The onboard enrichment programme connects directly to the destinations being visited.
Asia and the Indian Ocean
Asia itineraries cover Japan, Southeast Asia, and the Indian Ocean. Typically 12 nights or more, these suit guests who want genuine immersion in a region. Japan in spring is in high demand and books quickly.
Destination Experiences: What are they?
Destination Experiences is Explora Journeys’ curated shore excursion programme. These are not standard coach tours. Private museum openings, cooking experiences with local chefs, guided walks with historians, and small-group activities that reflect the Explora philosophy of depth over volume.
Destination Experiences carry an additional charge and are not included in the standard fare. They represent a significant step up from the typical cruise excursion model.
Are shore excursions included?
Standard shore excursions are not included in the Explora Journeys fare. This differs from lines like Regent Seven Seas, where excursions are bundled into the headline fare. For guests who prefer independent exploration, this is not a disadvantage. For guests who want everything pre-arranged, it is worth factoring in when comparing overall costs.
