Cruise overview

Delight in the discovery of Spain’s historic treasures and dazzle your senses on a journey that takes you deep into the local cultures of Madrid, Segovia and Barcelona, with stops at legendary ports in Southern Spain, Morocco and Portugal. Imagine waking in a 5-star hotel in Madrid looking forward to two days of exploring the city’s renowned ancient landmarks, famous museums, and acclaimed restaurants. Stroll the Gran Via (the “Spanish Broadway”) finding keepsakes and enjoying tapas in local restaurants steeped in Spanish culture and history. Take in the works of Spanish masters and the largest collection of Italian art outside of Italy at the Prado Museum. Enjoy a fiery flamenco show at Madrid’s “Cathedral of Flamenco” while enjoying a three-course gourmet meal from a menu created by a Michelin Star chef. Spend a day in Segovia, a medieval city featuring an ancient Roman aqueduct that winds around the edge of town. In Barcelona, dine on authentic Catalan cuisine and be whisked away to the Cavas Cordoniu cellars in the Penedés Region to learn about the traditional process of making Cava. This cruise to Southern Spain and Morocco will take your breath away at every turn. Relax on the golden Costa del Sol beaches, experience Picasso’s genius in Málaga, and explore the Roman ruins of Cartagena and Tarragona. Sitting at a café in Tangier’s medina sipping mint tea and watching old men play backgammon, you’ll know this is a dream come true.

Itinerary

Day 1

Málaga

As you sail into Malaga you will notice what an idyllic setting the city enjoys on the famous Costa del Sol. To the east of this provincial capital, the coast along the region of La Axarqua is scattered with villages, farmland and sleepy fishing hamlets – the epitome of traditional rural Spain. To the west stretches a continuous city where the razzmatazz and bustle creates a colourful contrast that is easily recognisable as the Costa del Sol. Surrounding the region, the Penibéetica Mountains provide an attractive backdrop overlooking the lower terraced slopes which yield olives and almonds. This spectacular mountain chain shelters the province from cold northerly winds, giving it a reputation as a therapeutic and exotic place in which to escape from cold northern climes. Malaga is also the gateway to many of Andalusia’s enchanting historic villages, towns and cities.
