Cruise overview

Iconic cities like Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Phuket partner with deliciously low-key Thai islands to give you the best of both worlds. Bangkok, Thailand offers an entrancing mixture of skyscrapers, ornate temples, and floating markets. Few ships can dock this close to the city center, but your Windstar ship is small enough to cruise the Chao Phraya River, giving you a front-row seat to Bangkok’s skyline and the daily life of riverfront communities. Discover Peranakan culture in Singapore and Penang, Malaysia a unique blend of Chinese and Malay that influences everything from architecture and language to world-famous street food. An overnight in Singapore also gives you time to watch the Supertree light show at Gardens by the Bay, check out the nightlife at Clarke Quay, or try as many dishes as you can at the famous hawker stalls. Stunning islands on and off the beaten path feature Thailand’s natural beauty at its best. Swim with free-roaming pigs at Piggy Island near Ko Samui, or head to the emerald lagoons and limestone cliffs of Ang Thong National Marine Park for kayaking and snorkeling. Relax with a unique spa day at Jungle Hot Springs in Krabi.

Itinerary

Day 1

Phuket

Though few tourists linger here, Phuket Town, the provincial capital, is one of the more culturally interesting places on the island to spend half a day. About one-third of the island’s population lives here, and the town is an intriguing mix of old Sino-Portuguese architecture and the influences of the Chinese, Muslims, and Thais that inhabit it. The old Chinese quarter along Talang Street is especially good for a stroll, as its history has not yet been replaced by modern concrete and tile. And this same area has a variety of antiques shops, art studios, and trendy cafés. Besides Talang, the major thoroughfares are Ratsada, Phuket, and Ranong roads. Ratsada connects Phuket Road (where you’ll find the Tourism Authority of Thailand office) to Ranong Road, where there’s an aromatic local market filled with fruits, vegetables, spices, and meats.
