Itinerary

Day 1

Sydney, New South Wales

Sydney belongs to the exclusive club of cities that generate excitement. At the end of a marathon flight there’s renewed vitality in the cabin as the plane circles the city, where thousands of yachts are suspended on the dark water and the sails of the Opera House glisten in the distance. Blessed with dazzling beaches and a sunny climate, Sydney is among the most beautiful cities on the planet. With 4.6 million people, Sydney is the biggest and most cosmopolitan city in Australia. A wave of immigration from the 1950s has seen the Anglo-Irish immigrants who made up the city’s original population joined by Italians, Greeks, Turks, Lebanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thais, and Indonesians. This intermingling has created a cultural vibrancy and energy—and a culinary repertoire—that was missing only a generation ago.Sydneysiders embrace their harbor with a passion. Indented with numerous bays and beaches, Sydney Harbour is the presiding icon for the city, and urban Australia. Captain Arthur Phillip, commander of the 11-ship First Fleet, wrote in his diary when he first set eyes on the harbor on January 26, 1788: “We had the satisfaction of finding the finest harbor in the world.”Although a visit to Sydney is an essential part of an Australian experience, the city is no more representative of Australia than Los Angeles is of the United States. Sydney has joined the ranks of the great cities whose characters are essentially international. What Sydney offers is style, sophistication, and great looks—an exhilarating prelude to the continent at its back door.

Accommodation

Accommodation overview

Seabourn Quest carries 458 guests across four accommodation categories. The options range from the entry-level Ocean View Suites at 295 sq. ft through to the Veranda and Penthouse categories, and up to the Owner’s and Wintergarden Suites at the top of the ship. Suite sizes climb to 1,182 sq. ft of indoor space, with balconies adding 558 sq. ft of outdoor space.

Ocean View Suites

Seabourn Quest’s Ocean View Suites are the only category in the Seabourn fleet that don’t come with a private balcony. However, that’s far from a compromise, with every suite featuring a large picture window, a comfortable living area, a walk-in wardrobe and a spacious marble bathroom with a separate tub and shower. If you value the suite experience over the balcony view, then this will suit your requirements.

Veranda Suites

The ship-wide refurbishment in 2018 elevated Seabourn Quest’s Veranda Suites in line with the standards set across the rest of the ocean fleet. You’ll benefit from all the amenities featured in the Ocean View Suites, complemented by an interior design that strikes a near-perfect balance between classic refinement and contemporary style.

Penthouse Suites

Seabourn Quest’s Penthouse Suites occupy the higher decks, boasting views and positioning to match. Each suite adds a separate bedroom, a larger balcony, and a dining area suitable for hosting and entertaining. If you’re considering a longer sailing, the additional space definitely makes sense.

Owners, Signature, and Wintergarden Suites

At the top of Seabourn Quest sit the most expansive accommodations onboard: the Owner’s Suites, the Signature Suites, and the Wintergarden Suites. All offer generous living and dining areas, larger verandas, and, in the case of the Wintergarden, a signature glass-enclosed solarium with a daybed and whirlpool tub. These suites are limited in number and tend to book well in advance, particularly on the more sought-after itineraries.

Dining

Dining overview

Despite being smaller than Seabourn’s other ocean-going ships, Seabourn Ovation and Seabourn Encore, Seabourn Quest easily matches the choice and quality where dining is concerned. There are five venues – all included in your fare, along with premium beverages – and all feel slightly more intimate than her larger sisters, which long-standing Seabourn Club members will recognise as one of the ship’s defining characteristics.

The Restaurant

Seabourn Quest’s most formal dining venue, The Restaurant, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with all meals served at your table. The options change almost daily, and with no fixed seating, you’re free to dine whenever you like.

The Colonnade

A nice alternative to the ship’s main dining room, The Colonnade is a buffet-style restaurant open for breakfast and lunch. Easy-going and informal, you can choose to dine inside or outside (when the weather permits) and enjoy an ever-changing choice of dishes, many of which are inspired by the local flavours and favourites of the destinations you are visiting.

Sushi

Seabourn Quest’s Sushi restaurant offers traditional nigiri and sashimi, handcrafted signature rolls, and Japanese spirits, served in an intimate setting that fits naturally with the ship’s smaller scale. As with every venue on board, there’s no surcharge to dine here, which is unusual for a speciality restaurant of this kind. Top tip: Book early to avoid disappointment as reservations often fill up quickly.

Solis

Seabourn Quest was the first ship in Seabourn’s fleet to host Solis, a Mediterranean restaurant which brings together the very best flavours of the region. Expect a menu that draws on the food traditions of the Italian and French Rivieras, Greece and the wider Mediterranean, served in an intimate setting that’s a particular favourite among returning Seabourn Club members.

Amenities

Seabourn Square

The social hub of Seabourn Quest, Seabourn Square hosts a coffee bar, a library, guest services, and comfortable seating all in one place. It’s the place guests head to reserve shore excursions, meet up with fellow travellers, or simply find a quiet corner to relax. You’ll find yourself here many times throughout your voyage.

Pool Deck

A relaxed, sociable space, the Pool Deck is a favourite spot for many guests, especially when sailing in warmer regions. The freshwater pool stays at a consistent temperature regardless of the ship’s location, and you’re free to take a dip in one of the whirlpools or enjoy a cocktail courtesy of the attentive bar service. Given the ship’s smaller scale, you’d be surprised how easy it is to find a quiet corner.

The Retreat

The Retreat is Seabourn Quest’s exclusive private deck area. The area sits beneath a distinctive flower-shaped canopy and features 15 cabanas arranged around a whirlpool. There’s a dedicated bar service, a tailored menu of snacks and light bites, and complimentary champagne. Note that the use of the cabanas incurs an additional charge, so if you’re interested, please speak to your Voyage Consultant at the time of booking.

Marina Day

Situated at the rear of the ship, Seabourn Quest’s retractable platform opens directly into the sea so you can swim, kayak, and paddleboard in protected waters. It’s the type of experience, weather-permitting, that shouldn’t be missed, and many of our clients have remarked that it was their favourite part of the voyage.

Lounges and bars

Each of the lounges and bars on Seabourn Quest have their own character. While smaller than those found on Ovation and Encore, they’re more intimate and geared towards fostering camaraderie on board. Our favourite spot is the Observation Bar, which is popular for a pre-dinner cocktail. For late-night music and conversation, head to The Club after dinner.

Onboard services

Seabourn ensures that every day is seamless, and their personal style of service defines what you’ll experience on Seabourn Quest. There’s a 24-hour concierge service that handles any requests, a complimentary laundry service for guests in higher-category suites, and a well-stocked boutique where you can pick up essentials or shop for clothing. Finally, complimentary WiFi means you can stay connected to the news and loved ones back home.

Wellness

Spa and fitness

For pure relaxation and revitalisation, The Spa at Seabourn offers an array of treatment rooms, a thermal suite, a salon, and a dedicated fitness centre. On a smaller ship like Seabourn Quest, the spa naturally feels more discreet, and it’s easier to reserve your spot at short notice. The treatment menu draws on Dr Andrew Weil’s integrative approach, combining classic massages and facials with mind-body therapies for a genuinely restorative effect.

Mindful Living

Mindful Living is Seabourn’s wellness concept, and it’s quietly apparent in many of the elements you’ll experience on your cruise. However, for those who want to explore it further, there are sunset yoga and meditation sessions and expert talks on topics such as nutrition and sleep, all of which are included in your fare.

Entertainment

Live music and performances

The entertainment on Seabourn Quest takes on a more personal quality, and the evening programme naturally reflects that. The Grand Salon hosts classical and jazz performances through the week, while The Club draws guests for an unhurried evening of cocktails and live music. Resident performances from the Seabourn Six, created by Belinda King, bring polished, production-value entertainment that you might not expect on a ship of Quest’s scale.

Seabourn Conversations

Among Seabourn Quest’s evening offerings, Seabourn Conversations is the one most often cited by returning Seabourn Club members as a genuine reason to keep coming back. The series brings notable guest speakers on board, with diplomats, explorers, scientists, chefs and journalists among past contributors, and the talks add real depth to days at sea. The smaller audience on Quest means the post-talk conversations often spill into the bar afterwards.

Signature events

Caviar in the Surf is among Seabourn’s most loved traditions, and Seabourn Quest’s varied programme of Caribbean and warm-water sailings means she delivers it across more of her voyages than ships on more focused single-region deployments. Her crew serves caviar and champagne from a surfboard during a beach barbecue, while gala evenings and themed deck parties add to the rhythm of every cruise.

A good fit for...

Is Seabourn Quest right for you?

If you love small-ship cruising at its most intimate, value the personal attention of a smaller crew-to-guest ratio, and want access to the kind of harbours and hidden corners that larger luxury ships are forced to bypass, Seabourn Quest is definitely worth your consideration. Couples make up the majority of guests on board, with returning Seabourn Club members particularly well represented, but solo travellers are equally well looked after thanks to the open-seating dining and the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. There are no dedicated children’s facilities, so Seabourn Quest is best suited to adults and multi-generational groups travelling together rather than families looking for child-focused activities.
