Cruise overview

Embark on a journey across seas and centuries, sailing from the artistic heart of Barcelona to the volcanic islands of the Azores. Along the way, encounter the ancient legacies of the Mediterranean, the Moorish traditions that shaped North Africa and Iberia, the coastal charms of Portugal and the Azores’ otherworldly beauty. Explore storied kasbahs, idyllic villages and rugged coastlines—sometimes with expert guides, other times at your own pace—and discover how centuries of history, cuisine and culture have left their mark on these storied shores.

Itinerary

Day 1

Barcelona

Arrive in Barcelona and transfer to a shared hospitality space. This afternoon, explore the city at your own pace, enjoying its architectural masterpieces, the lively street rhythms of Las Ramblas or the beautiful views atop Montjuic. Embark the ship in the late afternoon and set off on your journey.

The infinite variety of street life, the nooks and crannies of the medieval Barri Gòtic, the ceramic tile and stained glass of Art Nouveau facades, the art and music, the throb of street life, the food (ah, the food!)—one way or another, Barcelona will find a way to get your full attention. The capital of Catalonia is a banquet for the senses, with its beguiling mix of ancient and modern architecture, tempting cafés and markets, and sun-drenched Mediterranean beaches. A stroll along La Rambla and through waterfront Barceloneta, as well as a tour of Gaudí’s majestic Sagrada Famíliaand his other unique creations, are part of a visit to Spain’s second-largest city. Modern art museums and chic shops call for attention, too. Barcelona’s vibe stays lively well into the night, when you can linger over regional wine and cuisine at buzzing tapas bars.
