The original Galapagos expedition, perfected over six decades
The original Galapagos cruise operator, Lindblad Expeditions, has been sailing these islands since 1967. While decades have passed since those first pioneering voyages, its ethos remains unchanged: a steadfast commitment to delivering authentic, immersive experiences that reveal the islands in their truest form. It’s a philosophy rooted in discovery, echoing the same spirit of curiosity that has defined the Galapagos ever since Charles Darwin first set foot here in 1835.
In the modern era, Lindblad Expeditions offers one of the most impressive and diverse fleets sailing the Galapagos, with purpose-built expedition ships designed specifically for navigating these protected waters. An unrivalled partnership with National Geographic further elevates the experience, with each voyage accompanied by a team of expert naturalists, scientists, geographers and photographers who bring the destination to life in remarkable detail.
Daily excursions are carefully curated to maximise your time ashore and on the water, whether that’s walking among wildlife on remote islands, snorkelling alongside sea lions and marine iguanas, or exploring hidden coves by Zodiac. Back on board, insightful briefings and informal discussions deepen your understanding of the ecosystems, history and conservation efforts that make the Galapagos so extraordinary.
Make no mistake, if a Galapagos cruise is something you’ve considered, Lindblad Expeditions should be at the very top when it comes to choosing the right operator.

Lindblad’s Galapagos fleet
There are four vessels in Lindblad’s Galapagos fleet, each offering a slightly different way to experience the islands. National Geographic Delfina is the smallest, with a maximum of just 16 guests, making it the ideal choice for families or private groups seeking an intimate, yacht-style experience.
The 96-guest National Geographic Endeavour II is the largest ship in the fleet, offering a superb balance of comfort and expedition capability. Purpose-built for exploring the Galapagos, she features a shallow draft for accessing remote landing sites, along with a glass-bottom boat and underwater cameras that bring the marine environment into even sharper focus.
National Geographic Gemini and National Geographic Islander II are similar in size and facilities, each accommodating up to 48 guests. These ships are particularly well-suited to those seeking a more spacious onboard experience, with some of the largest suites in Lindblad’s Galapagos fleet, alongside a strong emphasis on comfort and immersive exploration.

A day in the Galapagos with Lindblad
Every day in the Galapagos with Lindblad brings something new. You might begin with breakfast shortly after sunrise, or already be out on the water, stepping into a Zodiac alongside your Expedition Leader for an early morning landing among giant tortoises and lazing sea lions.
If you do stay on board, you’ll enjoy an unhurried breakfast as the ship quietly repositions to the next destination. As the Expedition Team prepares for the day ahead, the naturalists will share insights into the wildlife, geology and conservation efforts that define the islands.
Then it’s time to head out again. Slip into the water for a guided snorkel, where penguins dart past, and marine iguanas graze beneath the surface, or explore further afield by Zodiac, accessing coves and landing sites far beyond the reach of larger ships.
Afternoons bring a more relaxed pace, perhaps kayaking along the coastline or simply taking in the scenery from the deck as the landscape shifts around you. As evening draws in, gather for a recap of the day’s sightings before dinner is served.
