Cruise overview
From Rome, we sail down one of the world’s most scenic coastlines to Amalfi, a pretty, lemon-scented town dramatically set between the sparkling sea and the towering mountains. Relax onboard for a day as we journey to Croatia for red-roofed Dubrovnik, where you can lose yourself in its labyrinthine limestone streets or dive straight into the sparkling waters of the Adriatic from a cliffside bar. Then we cross into Montenegro to admire the medieval walled town of Kotor, and on to Corfu, Greece, with its glorious sandy beaches and UNESCO-listed Old Town. We arrive now in Malta for an overnight in Valletta, the cinematic capital built by the Knights of St John in the 1500s. From here, we dip down to Tunisia, calling at La Goulette for trips to the ruins of the ancient city of Carthage. Then we call by charming Cagliari on the Italian island of Sardinia, where colorful houses, grand palazzos, and domed churches climb up the hillside to the clifftop castle. A relaxing day at sea takes us to Spain, where we visit dynamic Alicante, exhilarating Valencia, and elegant Palma de Mallorca, before arriving in Barcelona, for dazzling architecture, art, and incredible food. Another sea day takes us to the glitzy shores of Monaco and an overnight in Monte Carlo – time to admire the gleaming superyachts in the harbor, dine in the waterfront restaurants, and have a flutter in the legendary casino. Next, enjoy the pristine beaches and 16th-century churches of the Cote D’Azur at Villefranche-sur-Mer before a sea day takes us back to Valletta. Italian waters beckon once again, with stops in Giardini Naxos on the island of Sicily to explore the enchanting town of Taormina, with its ancient Greco-Roman theatre and captivating views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea, and then Salerno, which has all the picturesque charm of the Amalfi Coast but without the crowds. Finally, we return to Civitavecchia, your gateway to the treasures of Rome
Itinerary
Civitavecchia
Italy’s vibrant capital lives in the present, but no other city on earth evokes its past so powerfully. For over 2,500 years, emperors, popes, artists, and common citizens have left their mark here. Archaeological remains from ancient Rome, art-stuffed churches, and the treasures of Vatican City vie for your attention, but Rome is also a wonderful place to practice the Italian-perfected il dolce far niente, the sweet art of idleness. Your most memorable experiences may include sitting at a caffè in the Campo de’ Fiori or strolling in a beguiling piazza.
