Cruise overview

Setting sail from lively Tokyo, our first port of call is the city of Nagoya, where you can admire the historic Nagoya Castle, with its golden shachihoko roof ornaments, and visit the sacred Atsuta Shrine, set in tranquil, ancient forest. Next is Wakayama to visit a restored 16th-century castle and stroll its cherry blossom-filled gardens, then Beppu, Japan’s onsen (hot spring) capital – be sure to take a soak in the mineral-rich waters. Now, we’ll cruise Kanmon Strait, one of the country’s most scenic passages, before we have two nights to explore Shanghai, China, from the historic streets of the French Concession to shiny, modern Pudong. A day at sea brings us to Kagoshima, where you can visit Sengan-en, sprawling 17th-century gardens that overlook Kinko Bay towards the active volcano Sakurajima; then Kochi, to explore ancient temples and hike to the impossibly blue Nikobuchi Waterfall. Our final destination is Osaka, famous for its neon lights and delicious street food.
