Departing from Barcelona, Spain’s capital of fiesta and fun, enjoy the quaint coastal atmosphere of Port Vendres before we sail to Villefranche-sur-Mer, which reveals the treasure trove of historical, cultural, and natural wonders that captivated the likes of the writer Jean Cocteau. We make a brief stop in Italy, calling at Porto Venere to explore the enchanting coastal villages of the Cinque Terre, before returning to France to visit Napoleon’s birthplace in Ajaccio, Corsica. Back to Spain now, to stroll the whitewashed village streets of Porto Mahon in Menorca. We sail on to Palma de Mallorca, where world-class beaches and renowned gastronomy await, before it’s back to the mainland and Cartegena, just a stone’s throw from the palm groves and picturesque streets of Elche, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Malaga is next, then we touch the tip of Africa in Tangier – Morocco’s invigorating mesh of cultures and curiosities. Next comes Cadiz, Spain’s 3,000-year-old Phoenician-founded city, before a sea day takes us to Lisbon, our final destination.

The infinite variety of street life, the nooks and crannies of the medieval Barri Gòtic, the ceramic tile and stained glass of Art Nouveau facades, the art and music, the throb of street life, the food (ah, the food!)—one way or another, Barcelona will find a way to get your full attention. The capital of Catalonia is a banquet for the senses, with its beguiling mix of ancient and modern architecture, tempting cafés and markets, and sun-drenched Mediterranean beaches. A stroll along La Rambla and through waterfront Barceloneta, as well as a tour of Gaudí’s majestic Sagrada Famíliaand his other unique creations, are part of a visit to Spain’s second-largest city. Modern art museums and chic shops call for attention, too. Barcelona’s vibe stays lively well into the night, when you can linger over regional wine and cuisine at buzzing tapas bars.
