Cruise Japan with Celebrity Cruises

Few operators excel like Celebrity Cruises when it comes to unforgettable cruise holidays in Japan. Each itinerary is meticulously crafted to reveal the essence of what makes the country truly remarkable, from its futuristic cities to ancient shrines and temples.

Over the past ten years, Japan’s popularity as a cruise destination has grown, securing its place on the bucket lists of many discerning travellers. Throughout this time, Celebrity Cruises has established itself as one of the best ways to experience the region, and will have two ships – Celebrity Millennium and Celebrity Equinox – deployed in the region for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The vessels sail from Tokyo (departing from Yokohama port) and offer a range of 12-night itineraries that explore the most captivating ports of call, from the ancient temples of Kyoto to the dramatic landscapes surrounding Mount Fuji.

Most Celebrity Japan cruises follow the popular Best of Japan routing, calling at highlights such as Osaka, Shimizu, Kochi and Kagoshima. Selected sailings include a visit to South Korea, with a call at the vibrant port city of Busan, adding an extra cultural dimension to the voyage. For those with a particular interest in timing, the Golden Week departures in late April and early May coincide with one of Japan’s most celebrated holiday periods, when cherry blossoms are at their peak.

As a fly-cruise destination for UK guests, Japan is easily accessible with direct flights from London to Tokyo in around 12 hours. At The Cruise Line, we can arrange your complete package including flights, transfers and any pre- or post-cruise stays in Tokyo. Every booking is fully ABTA and ATOL protected. Ports of call on a Celebrity Japan cruise

Every Celebrity Japan cruise departs from Yokohama, the gateway to Tokyo and one of Asia‘s most dynamic cities. Before or after your voyage, it is well worth spending time exploring the capital, whether that means visiting the historic Meiji Shrine, wandering through the neon-lit streets of Shibuya, or sampling some of the finest cuisine on the planet.

From Yokohama, itineraries head south along the Japanese coast. Shimizu is the port for Mount Fuji, offering excursions to the foothills of Japan’s most iconic landmark and the surrounding Shizuoka tea plantations. Osaka, one of the country’s great food cities, also serves as the gateway to Kyoto, where you can visit the Golden Pavilion, the Fushimi Inari shrine with its thousands of vermilion torii gates, and the tranquil bamboo groves of Arashiyama. Further south, Kochi on the island of Shikoku offers a quieter, more traditional side of Japan, while Kagoshima provides dramatic views of the active Sakurajima volcano rising from the bay.

Sailings that include South Korea add a call at Busan, a city known for its fresh seafood markets, striking coastal temples and the colourful hillside village of Gamcheon. Some itineraries also visit Nagasaki, where the city’s moving Peace Park and fascinating blend of Japanese and European heritage make for a thought-provoking day ashore.

Celebrity Japan cruise itineraries

Celebrity offers three main Japan itinerary types for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The Best of Japan routing is the most popular, sailing round-trip from Yokohama on a 12-night voyage that takes in the highlights of Japan’s coastline, including Osaka, Shimizu, Kochi, and Kagoshima. The Best of Japan and South Korea variant follows a similar route but adds a call at Busan, giving you the chance to experience two countries in a single sailing. Golden Week departures are also available in late April and early May, timed to coincide with Japan’s spring festival season and the tail end of the cherry blossom period.

Of the two ships offering Japan cruises, Celebrity Millennium is the longer-serving of the two based in the region, while Celebrity Equinox brings the Solstice Series experience to Asia for the first time. The season runs broadly from April through to October, with the spring months offering cherry blossom season and the autumn sailings coinciding with Japan’s famous koyo foliage.

At The Cruise Line, we offer Celebrity Japan cruises as either cruise-only or a fly-cruise package. If you want a seamless experience, we can design a complete itinerary that includes flights, airport transfers, hotel stays, and even private tours of places of interest.
