Few journeys begin on a river and end at the edge of the world, but this one does. Starting deep in Colombia, a seven-night voyage aboard AmaMelodia takes you along the Magdalena, through a country most travellers never see, past wetlands alive with birds and into the sunlit streets of Mompox, where colonial Colombia feels entirely intact.

Cartagena follows, with three days to wander at your own pace before Silver Shadow slips out of the Caribbean and into one of travel’s great spectacles, the Panama Canal, its locks rising and falling like a slow, mechanical miracle. From there, the Pacific takes over. Ecuador’s coast, the ancient city of Lima, and finally Valparaiso, where painted houses climb the hills above the port like a city that forgot to stop growing. It is a journey with genuine variety and genuine depth, shaped as much by river and culture as by the open sea.
