US Virgin Islands Cruises
St Thomas is the island most frequently visited by cruise ships, largely owing to its stunning beaches and picturesque mountain range backdrop. Visitors to the island are advised to check out the fabulous views proffered by the cable cars that run along the top of the island. From here you will be able to enjoy unbeatable views of the harbour and St Thomas’s neighbouring islands.
St Thomas is also home to Charlotte Amalie, the US Virgin Island’s capital city, where you will find an array of bustling markets trading Caribbean arts, crafts and delicacies.
Situated just east of St Thomas is St John. Claimed by one of our team as “the most beautiful place” she’s ever visited, St John offers pristine white-sand beaches and calm turquoise waters that make it the ideal location for relaxation and some light water-sports. SeaDream Yacht Club, Holland America and Azamara Club Cruises all feature stops at St John on their Caribbean itineraries so there’s a variety of options if you’re looking for a cruise to the US Virgin Islands.
St Croix is a less popular port of call for cruise ships, though lines including Silversea and Royal Caribbean both offer sailings to the island. St Croix has the largest land mass of the US Virgin Islands though its terrain is much more rugged than its counterparts and due to it’s location some 40 miles south of St Thomas, it also enjoys more a lot more rain. There’s a real tropical ambience to St Croix and its lack of a reliance on tourism is somewhat refreshing meaning it’s recommended if you’re looking for a real off-the-beaten path experience on your Caribbean cruise.
