Westerdam is named for the west position of the compass - pointing the direction cruising will take in the future - is the third in Holland America Line's series of Vista-class ships. As such, she embraces the latest industry and environmental technologies such as her use of a diesel-electric power plant for optimal energy efficiency and an Azipod propulsion system.
On board, pampered guests enjoy incredible space per person ratio on a ship known for her stylish, spacious comfort. Staterooms with verandas for private sunning, dining and relaxing. Several dining choices including the intimate reservations-only Pinnacle Grill, and the Lido Restaurant. Hundreds of ways to pamper and relax in The Greenhouse Spa and Salon – one of the largest and most luxurious in fleet – and more lounges and nightclubs to entertain you.
The art collection aboard Westerdam has a theme of Dutch heritage in the New World and ranges from paintings of historic Dutch ships, such as Henry Hudson's Half Moon, to a huge Indian silver-overlaid wood palace doorway, a bone tobacco pipe carved in the shape of a woman's head to a collection of 5,000-year-old pre-Columbian carved limestone figures from Ecuador. Contemporary pieces include an original Andy Warhol portrait and signature sculptures by Sedona artist Susanna Holt – Westerdam truly is an art lover’s paradise at sea!
