Maya Treasure of the Yucatán Cruise
Built for Ponant Cruises in 2018, Le Champlain is an Explorer-Class expedition yacht and the sister-ship of Le Laperouse, Le Bougainville and Le Durmont-D’Urville. Designed to explore some of the world’s most remote regions, Le Champlain offers voyages in Central America, the Caribbean, Greenland, Iceland and on the Great Lakes of North America.
Le Champlain has the capacity for 184 guests and offers facilities which include an underwater lounge and a water-sports marina. To further enhance your experience, Le Champlain is equipped with a fleet of Zodiacs which are frequently deployed throughout each voyage for sightseeing trips and to reach landing zones.
Le Champlain Staterooms & Suites
The accommodation on Ponant’s Le Champlain is comprised of six grades of stateroom and suite. They are as follows:
All of the accommodation grades on Le Champlain have a private balcony and amenities which include en-suite bathroom facilities, climate control, satellite television, a mini-bar, a writing desk and a private safe.
Le Champlain Dining
There are two principal dining options on Le Champlain. The ship's main dining room is a panoramic restaurant which provides seating for all of the ship's guests. Unlike similar-sized ships, the dining room opens out onto the deck so guests may dine outside should they wish. Breakfast and lunch are generally buffet-style, while evening meals are served course-by-course at your table.
In keeping with the dining experiences offered on other ships in the Ponant fleet, the food served on Le Champlain is expertly prepared by a team of chefs who source the freshest ingredients to create a menu consisting of French fine-dining classics and regionally-influenced dishes.
There is also an outdoor grill on deck 3 of Le Champlain, which offers a more informal dining experience than found in the main dining room. Here you can enjoy freshly grilled fish and meat, along with salad and pasta options.
Le Champlain Public Areas & Facilities
The public areas and facilities onboard Le Champlain are designed to promote an air of space and intimacy. As such, the main lounge provides ample seating for nearly all of the ships guests and offers the perfect environment for relaxing with a good book, catching up with new friends or enjoying some of the ship’s low-key entertainment.
As Le Champlain is primarily an expedition ship, much of the entertainment onboard is geared towards learning more about the world and the region you are exploring. One of the best examples of this is the ship’s multisensory Blue Eye Lounge. This unique space is designed to give guests a privileged underwater perspective of life below the waves, with whale-eye windows situated and hi-definition cameras positioned below the waterline.
Le Champlain also features a marina at the rear of the ship which is used in warm weather climates for sunbathing and water sports activities such as paddle-boarding and snorkelling.
