Silver Discoverer was constructed in 1989, and originally operated in Japan before being sold to the Clipper Cruise Line. Silver Expeditions purchased the ship in 2013, and following a large-scale refit and refurbishment programme, the vessel commenced service for Silversea in 2014.
Offering accommodation for 128 guests across a range of spacious suite categories, Silver Discoverer is recognised as one of the most luxurious expedition ships at sea and is a great choice for couples and solo travellers, particularly those with an interest in small ship cruising, wildlife and cultural history.
Silver Discoverer Itineraries
Silver Discoverer primarily operates in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes Australasia, the Indian Ocean, Micronesia and the Russian Far East. The itinerary durations available are generally between 7 to 18 days, with each voyage designed to feature stops in off-the-beaten-path gems as well as more traditional cruise ports.
Among Silver Discoverer’s highlights are the sailings she offers in Australia’s remote Kimberley region and the beautiful Seychelles. These captivating destinations are seldom visited by larger ships and are therefore highly recommended if you wish to immerse yourself in a truly memorable experience on your next cruise.
Silver Discoverer Accommodation
In-keeping with the high standards consistent throughout all Silversea's ships, all of the accommodation onboard Silver Discoverer is well-appointed and spacious, boasting European bath amenities, WiFi access, flat-screen televisions and complimentary creature comforts such as bath robes and slippers.
There are five categories of accommodation on Silver Discoverer. The largest of the suites, the Medallion Suite, comes equipped with a private veranda and separate living quarters. The Veranda Suite also boasts its own private veranda, while the Vista Suites, View Suites and Explorer Suites range from 269 sq.ft to 193 sq.ft respectively, and benefit from either traditional windows or two port hole windows.
Silver Discoverer Dining Options
There are three dining venues aboard Silver Discoverer, each offering its own distinctive choice of cuisine and setting. The ship’s main dining room, The Restaurant, operates on an open-seating basis and is blessed with a classically elegant interior. The menus in the Restaurant combine delicious contemporary cuisine with locally inspired favourites.
The Grill is Silver Discoverer’s more informal option and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here you can choose from light bites, such as pizza and pasta, as well as enjoyed fresh meats and fish served from the grill. Alternatively, breakfast and lunch can also be enjoyed buffet-style in the ship’s Discover Lounge.
24 hour room service is also available throughout the duration of your Silver Discoverer voyage.
